Know Your Rights at School

The right of children with diabetes to care for their diabetes at school is based on the Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Individuals with Disability Education Act (IDEA). These laws provide protection against discrimination for children with disabilities, including diabetes, in any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance. This includes all public schools and day care centers and those private schools and centers that receive federal funds.
There seems to be a lot of confusion regarding the differences between a 504 and and Individualized Education Plan (IEP). To put it simply, a 504 plan is plan designed to deal with medical issues, such as diabetes, while an IEP is a plan designed to deal with educational challenges or special needs that need not be related to a medical treatment plan. A 504 would contain instructions, for example, for blood glucose monitoring, while an IEP would include instructions for additional reading education, should it be needed. Children with diabetes use a 504 plan for accommodations related to diabetes and need not have an IEP unless they have special academic needs.
  • Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
  • The Americans with Disabilities Act
  • Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
  • State Regulations
  • According to this law, parents of qualifying children have the right to develop a Section 504 plan with their child's school. To qualify for protection under Section 504, a child must have a record of such impairment, or be regarded as having such impairment. Schools can lose federal funding if they do not comply with this law. Parents can use these laws to ensure that, while at school, their children with diabetes can fully participate in all school activities, while at the same time caring for their medical needs. This means that the school cannot: refuse to allow a child with a 504 to be on the honor roll, deny credit to a student whose absenteeism is related to diabetes, refuse to administer medication (a school cannot require parents to waive liability as a condition of giving medicine), and determine sports/extracurricular participation without regard to the student's diabetes. Any school that receives Federal funding must comply with IDEA and Section 504 laws. A child need not require special education to be protected. This law prohibits all schools and day care centers, except those run by religious organizations, from discriminating against children with disabilities, including diabetes. Protection under is this law is the same as that for Section 504. IDEA mandates the federal government to provides funding to education agencies, state and local, to provide free and appropriate education to qualifying students with disabilities. This includes children who have diabetes. As with the other two laws, you must show that diabetes can, at times, adversely affect educational performance. The school is then required to develop an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) to accommodate your child's needs. Some states have enacted additional legislation to protect children with disabilities. Contact your state legislature for further information.

What this Means

Any educational facility, school or daycare center, which receives federal funding cannot discriminate in the admission, educational process, or treatment of a student who has diabetes. Provided that the presence of diabetes has been disclosed and verified, and that the student/parents have requested reasonable accommodations, the educational facility is required by law to make the approved modifications which allow the child with diabetes to fully participate and benefit from all school activities and programs.
The student/parents are not required to assume responsibility for the provision of needed accommodations. However, the school can refuse to grant a request for an accommodation that is not specifically documented. School personnel do not have the right to confidential medical information. They need only to know what needs to be done to guarantee equal opportunity for the student. Any individual member of school staff who fails to comply with the approved medical and education plan can be held personally liable.

Responsibilities

  • Student or Parents
  • School personnel
    1. In a timely manner, identify that the child has diabetes.
    2. Provide recent documentation that the child has diabetes.
    3. In writing, request needed accommodations.
    4. Request a meeting to discuss 504 Plan and IEP.
    1. Provide written assurance of nondiscrimination.
    2. Provide notice of nondiscrimination in admission or access to its programs or activities. Notice must be included in a student/parent handbook.
    3. Designate an employee to coordinate compliance.
    4. Cooperate in providing authorized accommodations.
    5. Request physician's specific recommendations of needed accommodations.
    6. Request a meeting to discuss 504 Plan and IEP.
    7. Provide grievance procedures to resolve complaints.

What to include in a 504 Plan

  1. Medication procedures and dosages (e.g. insulin administration prior to meals, etc.) You will want to note if your child is capable of deciding that amount to be given or provide an alternative such as calling a parent or using a chart to determine amount to be given.
  2. Blood glucose testing procedures (when where, etc.). The school does have the right to not allow blood glucose testing in the classroom. However, if you can demonstrate that this procedure will not endanger others (i.e., materials will be disposed of at home and not at school), your school may allow the child to check in a secure area in the classroom.
  3. Procedures for treatment of hyper and hypoglycemia.
  4. Precautions to be taken before physical activity.
  5. Guidelines for meals, snack, special treats, and parties.
  6. Contact information for medical assistance (as needed) and parents.

What to include in an IEP

  1. The need for repeat of information. Sometimes, if a child has had an insulin reaction or extremely high blood sugar, that child may not be able to concentrate and need additional assistance.
  2. The child with diabetes may need to be allowed to take make-up tests if that student has had an insulin reaction or severe hyperglycemia during an exam.
  3. Flexibility in attendance requirements in case of health-related absences including physician visits (e.g., allowing students to be on honor roll and qualify for awards, etc).
  4. Permission to leave class to use restroom as needed.
  5. Provision of adequate time for taking medication, checking blood sugars, and completing meals and snacks.
  6. Access to increased fluid intake as needed

Bullying 1

Your child may be at risk in your school and you'll never know until you find their body or read the note saying why. Your child may not tell you, but you might feel there's something wrong; just can't put your finger on it. Is the coach being too hard? Is my child having study issues? Maybe they didn't make the team they tried out for: cheerleading, football, basketball, wrestling, etc. Whatever. Your kid needs you more than you know. You wake them up, get them around, feed them breakfast, send/take them to school, tell them you love them, and do your own things whle they proceed their education. The kid may or may not believe you when you tell them you love them, because of the bullying; it's usually a problem when somethings been said to the parent(s) , but there's nothing they feel they could do to stop it; they've told their parent(s) but the parent only said "If you fight back, they'll stop." or "That's not my problem". Those are the kind of words that make them feel thrown to the wolves by the very ones they love.

There's many types of bullying: Cyber, empty hallway, sexual herassment, school bus, bus stop, etc.

Cyber bullying is when the chld gets hate mail through the internet or the act of bullying happening to them is broadcasted on the internet for all to see. This could make the child paranoid to who might have seen it. When they see it, they might believe that everyone has seen it. The hate mail could be the hate mail from other students or random people they may or may not have talked to online. Most times one ca n send you email by seeing your name in a Yahoo! chat room and just add @yahoo.com to their name. If you hve more than one yahoo name with that account you could designate one for your email that you might not use, which might only be given to those they trust.

Bus stop bullying is when the children who wait for the bus are being picked on or beaten or pushed around. If this is the case, and you as the parent(s) cannot wait with them  to assure them safety until the bus arrives, but after that, the parent hasn't any more authority on the bus than the student. A bully will see where one door closes, another one will open. The front of the bus is usually the safest place so the driver could have a better chance of catching the bully. The back is   a better chance to bully another student. Especially if the bus is seated to grade.

Sexual bullying is when a student is bullied because of their sexuality. The child may be straight, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, etc. Whatever. Sexuality is not something that should be guilty about, any more than the girls should feel guilty about getting together for face masking at a sleep over. No matter the gender, they get picked on. You as a parent may or may not know their chosen sexuality. You might know and never say a word until they come out "of the closet". You as the parent(s) are an important facter in whether the child comes out or not. If you're okay with your childs sexuality, then let them know. Express it subtley if you are too afraid to bring the conversation up.
Many Christian religions are ...not so understanding. The express it genuinely how much of a sin it is. There are other religions that do not mind ANY chosen sexuality such as : Paganism, Neopaganism, Greek pathways, Roman pathways, Celtic pathways, Egyptian ways, Norse ways.

Aztec: Tezcatlipoca, Tlazoteotl, Xochipili, Xochiquetzal
Buddhist: Quan Yin/Avalokiteshvara
Hindu: Agni, Bahuchara Mata, Ganesha, Indra, Ishvara, Kali-ma, Shiva/Siva, Vishnu
Native American/Inuit: Sedna
Sumerian: Asushunamir
Vodou: Baron Samedi, Damballah, Erzulie/Ezili, Ghede Nibo
Welsh: Bran
Not all gods restrict their love to just one gender. Love is love after all.
Writing things on their lockers or on the inside of their locker for them to find. Your child may be straight, but that doesn't stop the bully from embarrassing them with those words. False accusations of sexuality are dangerous until the one getting bullied commits suicide, know what I mean?
Empty hallway is as it says it is. The child is found in an empty hallway with their bully, who uses it to their advantage.
Help your child understand that there's something that can be done about the way they're being treated.  It's not okay to be talked down to by your fellow students (or coworkers, boss, teachers, school princeble, partner, parent[s]), or anyone else. There are consequencest for this treatment and death is one of them. The  one being bullied could commit suicide or the bully could end up killing the one their bullying. The one being bullied could end up a bully themself in the future- whether they're still in school or not. It could effect the way they act at home or towards their partner or their employees and so on and so forth.
((look for part 2 in the future))

I woke up one morning, and all of my stuff had been stolen and replaced by exact duplicates

Half the people you know are below average.

99% of lawyers give the rest a bad name.

82.7% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

All those who believe in psychokinesis, raise my hand.

OK, so what's the speed of dark?

How can you tell when you're out of invisible ink?

When everything seems to be coming your way, maybe you're in the wrong lane.

If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried.

A conclusion is the place where you got tired of thinking.

To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research

Everyone has a photographic memory; some just don't have film.

Whatever you give a woman, she's going to multiply. If you give her sperm, she'll give you a baby. If you give her a house, she'll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she'll give you a meal. If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her. So - if you give her any crap, you will receive a ton of shit.

Guess What!

A 3-year old Boy's voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowded restaurant.

Brake fluid mixed with Clorox makes smoke, and lots of it.

No matter how much Jell-O you put in a swimming pool you still can't walk on water. Pool filters do not like Jell-O.

Marbles in gas tanks make lots of noise when driving.

Cats throw up twice their body weight when dizzy.

80% of Men who read this will try mixing the Clorox and brake fluid.

If you hook a dog leash over a ceiling fan, the motor is not strong enough to rotate a 42 pound Boy wearing Batman underwear and a Superman cape. It is strong enough, however, if tied to a paint can, to spread paint on all four walls of a 20x20 ft. room.

20 Worst Foods

20: Worst Fast-Food Chicken Meal - Chicken Selects Premium Breast Strips from McDonald's (5 pieces) with cream ranch sauce. 830 Calories, 55 grams fat (4.5 trans fat), 48 carbs. Add a large fries and regular soda and this seemingly innocuous chicken meal tops out at 1,710 calories.

19: Worst drink - Jamba Juice Chocolate Moo'd Power Smoothie (30 fl oz). 900 calories, 10 g fat, 183 carbs, 166 g sugar. Jamba Juice calls it a smoothie, MSNBC calls it a milk shake. The beverage contains as much sugar as 8 pints of Ben & Jerry's butter pecan ice cream.

18: Worst supermarket meal - Pepperidge Farm Roasted Chicken Pot Pie (whole pie). 1,020 calories, 64 g fat, 86 g carbs. Label may say this pie serves two, but, who ever divided a small pot pi! e in half? Once you crack the crust, there will be no stopping.

17: Worst 'healthy' burger - Ruby Tuesday Bella Turkey Burger. 1,145 calories, 71 g fat, 56 g carbs.

16: Worst Mexican entree - Chipotle Mexican Grill Chicken Burrito. 1,179 calories, 47 g fat, 125 g carbs, 2,656 mg sodium.

15: Worst kids' meal - Macaroni Grill Double Macaroni 'n' Cheese. 1,210 calories, 62 g fat, 3,450 mg sodium. It's like feeding your kid 1-1/2 boxes of Kraft mac 'n' cheese.

14: Worst sandwich - Quiznos Classic Italian (large). 1,528 calories, 92 g fat, 4,604 mg sodium, 110 g carbs. A large homemade sandwich would more likely provided about 500 calories.

13: Worst salad - On the Border Grande Taco Salad with Taco Beef. 1,450 calories, 102 g fat, 78 g carbs, 2,410 mg sodium. This isn't an anomaly: Five different On the Border salads on the menu contain more than 1, 100 calories each.

12: Worst burger - Carl's Jr. (Hardee's on East Coast) Double Six Dollar Burger. 1,520 calories! , 111g fat. Carl's Jr. brags it's home to this enormous sandwich, but the restaurant chain also provides convenient nutrition info on its Web site -- so ignorance is no excuse for eating it.

11: Worst steak - Lonestar 20 oz T-bone. 1,540 calories, 124g fat. Add a baked potato and Lonestar's Signature Lettuce Wedge, and this is a 2,700 calorie blowout.

10: Worst breakfast - Bob Evans Caramel Banana Pecan Cream Stacked and Stuffed hotcakes. 1,540 calories, 77 g fat (9 g trans fat), 198 g carbs, 109 g sugar. Five Egg McMuffins yield the same caloric cost as this stack of sugar-stuffed flapjacks, which is truly a heavy breakfast, weighing in at a hefty pound and a half.

9: Worst dessert - Chili's Chocolate Chip Paradise Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream. 1,600 calories, 78 g fat, 215 g carbs. Would you eat a Big Mac for dessert? How about three? That's the calorie equivalent of this decadent dish. Clearly, Chili's customers get their money's worth.

8: Worst Chinese entree - P.F. Chang's Pork Lo Mein. 1,820 calories, 127 g fat,! 95 g carbs. The fat content in this dish alone provides more than 1,100 calories. And you'd have to eat almost five servings of pasta to match the number of carbs it contains. Now, do you really need five servings of pasta?

7: Worst chicken entree - Chili's Honey Chipotle Crispers with Chipotle Sauce. 2,040 calories, 99 g fat, 240 g carbs. 'Crispers' refers to an extra thick layer of break crumbs that soak up oil and adds unnecessary calories and carbs to these glorified chicken strips.

6: Worst fish entree - On the Border Dos XX Fish Tacos with Rice and Beans. 2,100 calories, 130 g fat, 169 g carbs, 4,700 mg sodium. Perhaps the most misleadingly named dish in America : A dozen crunchy tacos from Taco Bell will saddle you with fewer calories.

5: Worst pizza - Uno Chicago Grill Chicago Classic Deep Dish Pizza. 2,310 calories, 162 g fat, 123 g carbs, 4,470 mg sodium. Downing this 'personal' pizza is equivalent to eating 18 slices of Domino's Crunchy Thin Crust cheese pizza.

4: Worst pasta - Macaroni Grill Spaghetti and Meatballs with Meat Sauce. 2,430 calories, 128 g fat, 207 g carbs, 5,290 mg sodium. This meal satisfied your calorie requirements for an entire day.

2: Worst starter - Chili's Awesome Blossom. 2,710 calories, 203 g fat, 194 g carbs, 6,360 mg sodium.

1: The worst food in America - Outback Steakhouse Aussie Cheese Fries with Ranch Dressing. 2,900 calories, 182g fat, 240g carbs. Even if you split these 'starters' with three friends, you'll have downed a dinner's worth of calories before you entree arrives.

Job Interview Behavior

Most managers and supervisors (and HR people) have had experiences interviewing candidates for job openings. I'm sure each of you has, at one time or another, been baffled by interviewee behaviour, but we're betting you haven't faced some of the behaviours that we list below. Certainly head-scratchers, and amusing (at least to read about). Strange but true.
Based on a survey published via the Internet, here are some of the odd things reported by HR professionals.
1. "... said he was so well-qualified that if he didn't get the job, it would prove that the company's management was incompetent."
2. "... stretched out on the floor to fill out the job application."
3. "... brought her large dog to the interview."
4. "... chewed bubble gum and constantly blew bubbles."
5. "Candidate kept giggling through serious interview."
6. "She wore a Walkman and said she could listen to me and the music at the same time."
7. "Balding candidate abruptly excused himself. Returned to office a few minutes later, wearing a hairpiece."
8. "Applicant challenged interviewer to arm wrestle."
9. "... asked to see interviewer's resume to see if the personnel executive was qualified to judge the candidate."
10. "... announced she hadn't had lunch and proceeded to eat a hamburger and french fries in the interviewer's office."
11. "Without saying a word, candidate stood up and walked out during the middle of the interview."
12. "Man wore jogging suit to interview for position as financial vice president."
13. "Stated that, if he were hired, he would demonstrate his loyalty by having the corporate logo tattooed on his forearm."
14. "Interrupted to phone his therapist for advice on answering specific interview questions."
15. "... wouldn't get out of the chair until I would hire him. I had to call the police."
16. "When I asked him about his hobbies, he stood up and started tap dancing around my office."
17. "... had a little pinball game and challenged me to play with him."
18. "... bounced up and down on my carpet and told me I must be highly thought of by the company because I was given such a thick carpet."
19. "At the end of the interview, while I stood there dumbstruck, went through my purse, took out a brush, brushed his hair, and left."
20. "... pulled out a Polaroid camera and snapped a flash picture of me. Said he collected photos of everyone who interviewed him."
21. "Candidate asked me if I would put on a suit jacket to insure that the offer I had made was formal."
22. "Said he wasn't interested because the position paid too much."
23. "While I was on a long-distance phone call, the applicant took out a copy of Penthouse, and looked through the photos only, stopping longest at the centerfold."
24. "During the interview, an alarm clock went off from the candidate's brief case. He took it out, shut it off, apologized and said he had to leave for another interview."
25. "A telephone call came in for the job applicant. It was from his wife. His side of the conversation went like this: "Which company? When do I start? What's the salary?" I said, "I assume you're not interested in conducting the interview any further." He promptly responded, "I am as long as you'll pay me more." "I didn't hire him, but later found out there was no other job offer. It was a scam to get a higher offer."
26. "An applicant came in wearing only one shoe. She explained that the other shoe was stolen off her foot in the bus."
27. "His attache [case] opened when he picked it up and the contents spilled, revealing ladies' undergarments and assorted makeup and perfume."
28. "He came to the interview with a moped and left it in the reception area. He didn't want it to get stolen, and stated that he would require indoor parking for the moped."
29. "He took off his right shoe and sock, removed a medicated foot powder and dusted it on the foot and in the shoe. While he was putting back the shoe and sock, he mentioned that he had to use the powder four times a day, and this was the time."

30. "Candidate said he really didn't want to get a job, but the unemployment office needed proof that he was looking for one."
31. "He whistled when the interviewer was talking."
32. "... asked who the lovely babe was, pointing to the picture on my desk. When I said it was my wife, he asked if she was home now and wanted my phone number. I called security."
33. "... she threw-up on my desk, and immediately started asking questions about the job, like nothing had happened."
34. "Pointing to a black case he carried into my office, he said that if he was not hired, the bomb would go off. Disbelieving, I began to state why he would never be hired and that I was going to call the police. He then reached down to the case, flipped a switch and ran. No one was injured, but I did need to get a new desk."
35. "... asked if I wanted some cocaine before starting the interview."

Ohio DUI/DWI Laws

Of the 818 traffic fatalities on Ohio highways in 2004, 391 of them involved a driver who was over the legal limit for alcohol. 276 of those deaths had a driver with a Blood Alcohol Content of more than twice the legal limit.

THE LIMIT
Ohio provides two standards for drunk driving: (A) driving while under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse, or a combination of the two and (B) driving with a Blood Alcohol Level of .08 or greater.
In court, both the chemical test that demonstrates that BAC level and officer testimony about the driver’s performance in field sobriety tests are admissible to establish these standards.

    DIABETES

    There is Type 1
    Type 2
    Gestational Diabetes

    SIGNS OF TYPE 1 DIABETES
Warning symptoms of type 1 diabetes can be mistaken for the flu at first. If your child is urinating frequently, drinking more than usual, losing weight despite having a healthy appetite, or feeling tired all the time, these could be signs of type 1 diabetes. Diabetic ketoacidosis can also develop if type 1 diabetes goes untreated; this condition is highlighted by stomach pain, nausea or vomiting, and a fruity smell on the breath. If you notice these symptoms in your child, call your doctor as soon as possible.
    WHAT CAUSES TYPE 1
We don't yet know what prompts the immune system to attack the beta cells and cause type 1 diabetes. Although diabetes is not an inherited disease, genetics does play a role in its development. In fact, experts believe that a genetic predisposition to diabetes, triggered by an unknown environmental factor, may be behind type 1 diabetes development. Researchers are also investigating the connection between type 1 diabetes and other autoimmune conditions such as celiac disease, which are more likely to occur in type 1 diabetics.
    DIAGNOSING TYPE 1
To make an accurate diagnosis of type 1 diabetes, doctors use one or more tests to measure the levels of glucose — sugar — in the blood. They distinguish between type 1 and type 2 diabetes by looking for autoantibodies, proteins created by the immune system to attack beta cells. Because type 1 diabetes is normally first seen in children or young adults, parents should have their child tested for this disorder if they notice any of the characteristic symptoms of diabetes, including excessive urination and thirst and unexplained weight loss.
    DOUBLE DIABETES
Double diabetes occurs when a person with type 1 diabetes develops insulin resistance, a symptom characteristic of type 2 diabetes. It's a growing problem — in fact, as many as one in three children newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes may have double diabetes. Obesity is a definite risk factor for double diabetes, and experts believe the increase may be due at least in part to weight gain in type 1 diabetics who are taking insulin but haven't adopted a healthy lifestyle.
    UNDERSTANDING TYPE 1
Type 1 diabetes occurs when the body's immune system stops the pancreas from making insulin

    ANY AGE?!
Type 1 diabetes can occur at any age, but it usually starts in children or young adults. That’s why it used to be called juvenile diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is different from type 2 diabetes, which is the most common form of the illness.

    TYPE 2
Type 2 diabetes occurs when the body can no longer process blood sugar, also known as glucose. Over time, higher-than-normal levels of sugar in the blood can lead to damage throughout the body, including problems with the eyes, gums, hands, feet, and heart. Although once known as "adult-onset diabetes," type 2 can begin at any age — and more and more children are getting it. People of any ethnic background can develop type 2 diabetes, but some groups, including African-Americans and Hispanics, are at higher risk. Obesity is perhaps the most important risk factor for type 2 diabetes. The good news is that type 2 diabetes is treatable with diet, exercise, and medication.

    CAUSES
Although experts don't know exactly why some people develop type 2 diabetes and others don't, we do know which factors can increase your chances. Excess fat, especially around your midsection, creates inflammation in the body and can lead to insulin resistance, a precursor to type 2 diabetes. In fact, four of five people with type 2 diabetes are overweight or obese. Poor eating habits, not getting enough exercise, and your genetic background also play a role

KEEP KIDS FROM DEVELPOING TYPE 2
As many as 45 percent of kids with diabetes have type 2, and there are ways you can help children guard against developing this disorder. Be on the lookout for symptoms of type 2 diabetes, especially if it runs in your family, and have the child undergo blood sugar testing if you notice any signs. Eating the right diet, getting enough exercise, and encouraging healthy weight loss can help improve the whole family's health and prevent or reverse type 2 diabetes.

    TYPE 2 EFFECTS MENOPAUSE
Going through the "change of life" takes some adjustment for any woman. But for women with type 2 diabetes, the hormonal changes of menopause can affect blood glucose levels, and menopausal symptoms like dizziness, sweating, and irritability can mimic the signs of both low and high blood sugar.

    HEALTHY TYPE 2ERS
There's no need to panic after a diabetes diagnosis. Experts say maintaining a healthy lifestyle when you have diabetes is all about making the right lifestyle choices, including eating right, exercising regularly, and checking your blood sugar often. It's also important to stay informed and ask questions during your doctor visits.

    TYPE 2 AND UR SEXUALITY
The nerve damage that often accompanies type 2 diabetes can affect the hands and feet. But many people may not be aware that it can also impair sexual health in both men and women. If you're experiencing sexual dysfunction as a result of diabetes, don't be shy about speaking to your health care provider, since these problems can often be helped.

    DEVELOPING TYPE 2
Nearly a third of all people over age 65 have diabetes, and many are also managing other health conditions. But diabetes care doesn’t vary with age. Keeping your type 2 diabetes in check through diet, exercise, medication, and any other guidelines your doctor gives you can help you stay as healthy as possible.
    FEMALE & TYPE 2
Women with type 2 diabetes who are pregnant or breast-feeding who cannot keep their blood sugar levels within a target range with diet and exercise. Only one oral diabetes medicine (glyburide) has been studied for use during pregnancy.

    LOW BLOOD SUGAR
True Low blood sugar means that the level of sugar in the blood has dropped below what the body needs to function normally, usually below 70 mg/dL.

    SELF-SHOT INSILLIN
True To give an injection of insulin, the needle of the syringe is inserted into the skin and the medicine is pushed into the fatty tissue just under the skin.

    TYPE 2, EAT RIGHT
For most people diabetes goes hand-in-hand with that other D-word, diet.  And neither one is particularly appealing.  The good news is that the best diet for a person with diabetes is really the same kind of healthy eating that is best for everyone. Rather than cutting out your favorite foods, you just need to learn how to balance moderation, carb control and healthy eating habits.
People with diabetes need to focus on whole foods that are high in fiber and nutrient-dense.  This includes virtually all plant foods, most low-fat dairy products, lean meat and poultry, and fish.  Conversely, it is necessary to keep highly processed foods, which are often full of refined flour and sugar, to a minimum.  This means choosing brown rice over white, whole-grain bread instead of white bread and sweet potatoes over russet or other white varieties.
Typically the choice that gives you the most fiber is the right one.  And for fats, you should chose skim milk instead of whole, ground turkey over ground beef, and olive and vegetable oils in place of butter or lard.  Added sugars should be avoided.  A good alternative to sugar is stevia.  It is more natural than other sugar substitutes and tastes better too.  Agave syrup or nectar is also a good substitute.  It has calories, but they don’t affect your sugar levels.

    MEAL IDEA
When trying to maintain a whole foods diet, eating out and convenience foods are usually ruled out.  That means it is time for you to get in front of a stove.  Some good choices for breakfast are quick cooking oats(not the kind in the envelope, the kind in the canister), high fiber cereal with skim or soy milk or an egg white omelet.  Some lunch ideas are a turkey bacon BLT with light mayo on whole grain bread, tuna salad with whole grain crackers, or minestrone soup and a garden salad with grilled chicken.  For dinner you can try recipes like broiled fish over brown rice with steamed veggies, bell peppers stuffed with chopped veggies, chopped chicken and low-fat cheese or veggie pizza on a thin, whole-wheat crust.  Now at first glance these recipe choices might seem pretty bland, but this is your chance to get creative with flavors.  Herbs and spices are a great way to add taste with little or no calories.  Add some cinnamon to your oatmeal.  Throw some spinach and mushrooms in your omelet or spice up fish and meats with lemon juice and garlic.
A diagnosis of diabetes presents a unique opportunity to shift your diet and lifestyle choices in a positive direction. Your body will thank you every which way — how you look, how you test at home and in the doctor’s office, and how you feel every day.
Generally Type 2 diabetic patients need 1500-1800 calorie diet per day to promote weight loss, however calories requirement may vary depending upon patients age, sex, activity level and body weight.  Half of total daily required calories should come from carbohydrates. One gram of carbohydrate is about 4 calories. A diabetic patient on a 1600 calorie diet should get half of these calories from carbohydrate. In other words it will be equal to 800 calories from carbohydrates, it means they need 200gms of carbohydrates everyday.

    Exsesive Sweating

A person with excessive sweating has a condition called hyperhidrosis. Sweating is normal when the body is exposed to a warm environment. The evaporation of sweat from the skin surface cools the body. Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating that occurs when the body is not exposed to a warm environment. In adults, the most common cause of hyperhidrosis is emotional stress. However, excessive sweating is also caused by heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, and shock.
The most common locations where hyperhidrosis occurs include the armpits, palms of the hands, soles of the feet, face, back and abdomen. Common symptoms that occur with hyperhidrosis include anxiety, nervousness, and fear. Excessive sweating that occurs with faintness, chest pain, or difficulty breathing may be associated with heart disease.
Treatment for hyperhidrosis depends on the underlying cause. Treatment for hyperhidrosis may include antiperspirants, anti-anxiety medication, botulism toxin injections, and surgery.
